Romanian Presidential Election


The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) has released partial results from the second round of Romania's presidential election. With over 73% of the votes counted, Nicușor Dan is currently in the lead with 52.03%, while George Simion has 47.97%.

As more votes were tallied:

  • 70% counted: Nicușor Dan leads George Simion by over 226,000 votes (51.88% vs. 48.12%).
  • 67.14% counted: Nicușor Dan has 51.58%, George Simion 48.37%.
  • 60% counted: Nicușor Dan leads with 51.2%, George Simion has 48.78%.

In the diaspora, with nearly 9% of votes counted, Nicușor Dan has approximately 72.5% of the votes, compared to George Simion's 27.5%. This lead for Nicușor Dan is even more significant in earlier diaspora counts.

Earlier updates showed a closer race, with George Simion initially leading as the first percentages of votes were counted. However, Nicușor Dan gradually took the lead as more results came in.

Exit polls released at 9:00 PM indicated a 9-10 percentage point lead for Nicușor Dan. Over 11 million Romanian citizens voted in the decisive second round, with a voter turnout of 64.72% according to the AEP.
